How is the damage assessment carried out?
Damage assessment is conducted by the Regional Revenue Sub-Inspector and related departments through a field investigation under the supervision of the Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
Who initiates the process of providing assistance?
The process can be initiated either suo motu by the Revenue Administration or based on a report submitted by the affected person, a public representative, or local officials from the disaster-affected area.
How are completely damaged buildings identified?
A three-member committee headed by the District Magistrate, including the Block Development Officer (or representative) and one Junior Engineer, identifies and verifies buildings that are completely damaged and unsafe for habitation.
What is the procedure after the damage is assessed?
After assessment, a report is prepared and submitted to the competent authority (Tehsildar/SDM/DM), who approves the relief amount as per the prescribed limits and guidelines.
How is the approved financial assistance amount disbursed?
Once approved, the amount is sent from the District Magistrate to the Tehsildar through the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and the Revenue Sub-Inspector (Patwari/Lekhpal) distributes the amount to the affected person or family.
