Who is eligible to apply?

Compensation ranges from a minimum of ₹900 to a maximum of ₹95,000, depending on the extent and type of damage.

How should the damage be reported?

The incident must be reported in writing to the concerned Range Office within two days of the damage.

Who verifies the reported damage?

The Forest Inspector or Deputy Forest Range Officer immediately confirms the incident, and the damage is jointly assessed by the Naib Tehsildar and Range Officer of the concerned area.

Who approves the compensation?

The Divisional Forest Officer/Deputy Director receives the final report and has full authority to approve and disburse the ex-gratia compensation.

What is the timeline for the final investigation report?

The Assistant Conservator of Forests/Wildlife Warden must submit the final investigation report to the Divisional Forest Officer/Deputy Director within one month of the incident.
