The scheme aims to create an ecosystem that promotes innovation in educational institutions. Through this scheme, financial assistance is provided to host institutes and student teams for running incubators and for student projects.

What you get

- The host institute will be provided a one-time grant of ₹10 lakhs to set up the required infrastructure for the implementation of the scheme and also provide the following expenses: | Operational Expenses: | - Each Educational Institute will get funding of ₹5 Lakhs per year to be used towards operating expenditure for maintenance. | - Operational Expenses Grant of ₹5 lakhs per annum (released in phases of ₹2.5 lakhs at a time) shall be operated like a revolving fund i.e. upon submission of audited utilization the next installment could be claimed | Project Fund: | - Each Project/team will get a maximum funding of ₹1.00 lakh and the college will take up a maximum of 5 projects in a year. Each project/idea selected by the host institute shall have to be approved by the State Level Committee.

Who can apply

The applicant must be a technical institute, polytechnic institute, or a government general degree college in Tripura.; Minimum 1000 sq. ft. carpet area in a location that is appropriate to host an incubation centre on a college/ institution campus.; 10 computers with the latest configuration. (Minimum configurations Core i5 / i7; 5th Gen; 1Tb hard disk, 4GB / 6GB Ram, 3GHz. Monitor at least 21 inches).; Workspaces to accommodate up to 5 start projects/teams/start-ups simultaneously.; Well-furnished incubation room with furniture, AC, and interior decoration.; Independent high-speed dedicated internet connection, uninterrupted power backup and Projection facility, Discussion, and meeting room to be made available on the college/institution campus.; One dedicated manpower will need to be appointed as a Start-up coordinator with the following qualifications.; Selection of a minimum of two mentors in specific areas of technology/specialization from the Faculty of the Host institute.

What is the objective of the scheme?

The New Generation Innovation Network (NGIN) is a scheme for students of different institutions in Tripura. It aims to create an ecosystem that promotes innovation in educational institutions, encouraging students, research scholars, and alumni to share ideas to solve local problems.

What kind of institutions are eligible to be a host institute under this scheme?

Initially, the scheme shall cover Technical Degree Colleges and subsequently, Polytechnic Institutes and Government general Degree Colleges will be covered in a phased manner.

What are the minimum infrastructure requirements for a host institution to be eligible?

The institution must have at least 1,000 sq. ft. of carpet area for an incubation centre, 10 computers with a minimum configuration of Core i5/i7, workspaces for up to 5 projects/teams, a well-furnished incubation room, and a dedicated high-speed internet connection.

What is the required manpower for a host institution under the NGIN scheme?

A host institution must appoint a dedicated Start-up Coordinator who is a technical/management graduate with at least 5 years of industry experience, and select a minimum of two faculty members to serve as mentors.

What can the project funds be used for?

The funds can be used for the procurement of raw materials to develop a prototype or working model to demonstrate the technology solution.

What items are not allowed to be purchased with the project funds?

The project funds cannot be used for the procurement of new hardware like computers, laptops, pen drives, printers, scanners, calculators, cell phones, or cameras.

Can we rent equipment if needed for a project?

Yes, if a critical equipment is not available in the host institution's inventory, it may be hired on a rental basis at an acceptable rate. The total rental cost must not exceed 20% of the individual project cost.

Who owns the assets acquired using the government grant?

All assets acquired wholly or partially out of the government grant are the property of the NGIN and must be retained in the incubation center at all times.

How can institutions apply for NGIN?

The application form will be collected with necessary documents from the Head of the Institution.

What happens if we need to dispose of an asset acquired with the grant?

A written permission with reasons to do so must be submitted to the Institute Level Committee, and a concurrence/clearance/permission must be obtained from the State Level Innovation Committee.

What is the duration of the NGIN scheme?

The duration of the scheme is the same as the Tripura IT/ITeS Start-up Scheme, which is 3 years. After this period, the institute must find another source of funding.
