MYAS confers the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award in order to recognize the achievements of persons associated with the field of adventure and to encourage young people to develop the spirit of endurance, risk-taking, cooperative teamwork, and quick, ready, and effective reflexes.

Who can apply

Awards can be given in four categories namely, Land Adventure, Water (Sea) Adventure, Air Adventure, and Life Time Achievement for adventure activities on Land, Sea, and Air.; Ordinarily not more than one Award will be made in each category.; The Ministry may increase the number of awards in a particular year for specific reasons recorded in writing and with the approval of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.; A person should have excellent performance and outstanding qualities of leadership, a sense of adventure discipline, and continuous achievement in one particular field of adventure viz. Land, Air, or Water (Sea).; The award may be given posthumously if such an occasion arises.

Common Questions

Can A Person Apply If He/She Is Already In Receipt Of The Award In The Past?

Yes, but the award will be not conferred for the second time to the same person under the same category. For example, if a person has been awarded Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award (TNNAA) under the Land Adventure category, he/ she cannot be awarded the award under the Land Adventure category again. However, if he/ she has achievements under say, water adventure category, he/ she can apply under that category.

Who Can Apply For The Award?

Any Indian Citizen working in the field of Adventure or immediate family member of a posthumous Adventurer.

How Will The Recommendation Letter Be Submitted By The Applicant?

The applicants will collect the recommendation letter (wherever applicable) from the competent authority and shall upload the scanned copy of the same along with other supporting documents for the Award.

Can An Organization Apply For The Award?

Only individuals can apply for the award. Therefore, the applicants may select the option "Individual" while registering.

What Option Is To Be Selected In The Nominator Type?

In the drop-down menu under "nominator type", the applicant must select citizen for applying for TNNAA.

Is Recommendation Mandatory For All The Applicants?

The recommendation is mandatory for serving personnel of Army/Navy/Air Force. Other applicants may get their recommendation from the authorities as mentioned in the scheme guideline for the award. In case an applicant could not get his/her application recommended, he/she may fill in NA in the Recommending Authority Column while applying for the award.

What Can Be Uploaded As A Supporting Document?

Supporting documents in r/o year-wise achievements in chronological order as mentioned in the Instructions need to be uploaded as a Single PDF document. The recommendation (wherever applicable) should also be a part of the PDF. The supporting documents should be clearly numbered and indexed as mentioned in the instructions.

I Have Successfully Submitted My Application For Award. Does It Confirm That I Am Eligible For The Award?

Merely submission of the form may not ensure that the applicant is eligible. The applicants are advised to go through the awards guidelines under Notification Tab of the portal and these FAQs before applying for the award.
