What should the bride and groom do to apply for the scheme?
The bride and groom must jointly apply in the prescribed form to the concerned body (Municipal Corporation, Municipality, City Council, or District Panchayat) 15 days before the scheduled date of the mass marriage ceremony.
What if an application under the scheme is rejected?
If an application is rejected, the appeal can be submitted to the concerned Sub-Divisional Revenue Officer. Appeals will be resolved within 30 days.
Who is responsible for organizing the mass marriage ceremonies?
In urban areas, the mass marriage ceremonies are organized by the Urban Body (Municipal Corporation, Municipality, or Municipal Council). In rural areas, the District Panchayat is responsible.
What is the minimum number of couples required for a mass marriage ceremony to be organized?
A minimum of 5 couples must apply for a mass marriage ceremony to be organized.
How are the dates and number of mass marriages determined?
The dates and number of mass marriages are determined by the minister in charge of the district. These dates are entered on the marriage portal by the District's Joint/Deputy Director, Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department.
