The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to aged and needy Goan artists and their dependent family members for medical treatment expenses. It covers major or minor surgical treatment costs in local or outstation hospitals, including travelling and accommodation expenses.

Financial Assistance | - Financial assistance shall be sanctioned to meet the expenses towards major or minor surgical treatment in local or outstation hospitals. | - Financial assistance shall be provided to meet the expenses towards travelling and accommodation outside the state for treatment for self and or wholly dependent family members. | - The maximum financial assistance under this category shall not exceed ₹50,000/-. | - The Government may relax the ceiling in case of major chronic ailments. | Disbursement | - The financial assistance amount shall be disbursed to the eligible applicant in the form of Electronic Clearing System mode. | - The disbursement shall be one-time financial assistance. | Conditions | - The beneficiary shall not avail the benefit of medical reimbursement from any other Government department or under any schemes or policies for the medical treatment for which the financial assistance is granted under this scheme. | - The details of the expenditure incurred along with the vouchers shall be furnished to the department after availing the treatment. | - The unutilized amount out of the sanctioned amount if any shall be refunded to the government within 3 months from completion of the treatment.

Who can apply

The applicant must be any Goan aged needy artist, born and brought up in the state of Goa.; The applicant must be recognized by the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.; The applicant must have an annual family income from all sources not exceeding ₹2,00,000/- per annum.; The applicant must be not less than 50 years of age.

What is the maximum financial assistance I can receive for my medical treatment expenses under this component?

The maximum financial assistance available is ₹50,000/-. However, the Government may relax this ceiling in case of major chronic ailments requiring higher expenditure.

If I need emergency treatment and cannot get an estimate beforehand, will my application still be considered valid?

Yes, your application will be considered valid. In case of treatment availed or to be availed on emergency basis, the estimate from the authorized doctor or hospital can be submitted subsequently.

Can I apply for financial assistance to cover the medical treatment costs of my wholly dependent family members?

Yes, financial assistance is provided to meet expenses towards treatment for self and or wholly dependent family members, including travelling and accommodation expenses outside the state.

What is the minimum age requirement that I must fulfill to be eligible for applying for financial assistance?

The age limit for grant of benefits is not less than 50 years. However, the Government may relax the age criteria for deserving cases under special circumstances.

After I receive the financial assistance and complete my treatment, what documentation do I need to submit to the department?

You must furnish the details of the expenditure incurred along with the vouchers to the department within 3 months from completion of the treatment.

What should I do with any remaining amount if I do not utilize the entire sanctioned financial assistance for my treatment?

Any unutilized amount out of the sanctioned amount must be refunded to the government within 3 months from completion of the treatment.

Can I claim reimbursement from another government department if I have already received financial assistance for the same medical treatment?

No, you cannot avail the benefit of medical reimbursement from any other Government department or under any schemes or policies for the medical treatment for which financial assistance is granted.

What is the annual family income limit that I must not exceed to qualify for this financial assistance?

Your annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹2,00,000/- per annum to be eligible for the financial assistance under this component.

Where can I obtain and submit the application form for seeking financial assistance for medical treatment expenses?

You can obtain and submit the prescribed application form directly at the Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa during working days.

Does the financial assistance cover expenses for treatment only in local hospitals or can I seek treatment outside the state?

The financial assistance covers major or minor surgical treatment in local or outstation hospitals, and also includes expenses towards travelling and accommodation outside the state for treatment.

What type of recognition from authorities do I need to have to be considered eligible for this financial assistance?

You must be recognized by the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa, and you should be a Goan aged needy artist, born and brought up in the state of Goa.

How will the approved financial assistance amount be transferred to me after the government approval is obtained for my application?

After obtaining Government approval, the Director of Art & Culture shall disburse the one time financial assistance amount in the form of Electronic Clearing System mode to your bank account.

Besides the medical estimate, what other certificates and documents must I attach with my application to substantiate my eligibility?

You must attach birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable), dependency certificate (for family members), income certificate, medical certificate, and recognition certificate from the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.

Who can apply on my behalf if I am unable to submit the application myself for the financial assistance?

Eligible artist or the family or co-artist or any member of the public can apply in prescribed proforma directly to the Directorate of Art & Culture on your behalf.
