Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

The scheme is to provide maternity benefits to women belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society. For first child the maternity benefit of ₹5,000 is provided in two instalments under PMMVY and second child, it is ₹6,000 is to be provided subject to second child is girl.

What you get

The cash incentives is provided in two instalments for the first child as per the schedule provided in | table below: | - Scheme Condition for First Child | Instalment ConditionsAmount (in Rs.)First InstalmentOn registration of pregnancy and at least one Antenatal checkup within six months from last menstrual period date at the Anganwadi Centre or approved Health facilities may be identified by the respective administering State/UT. 3,000/-Second InstalmentChildbirth is registered. The child has received all due vaccines till the age of 14 weeks as admissible under the Universal Immunization Programme of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.2,000/- | - Scheme Condition for Second Child (if it is a girl child) | Single InstalmentOn registration of pregnancy and at least one Ante-Natal Check-up (ANC) within six months from LMP at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) approved Health facilities may be identified by the respective administering State/UT. The girl child birth shall be registered under this Scheme. The girl child has received all due vaccines till the girl child attains age of fourteen weeks from the date of birth as admissible under the Universal Immunization Programme of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.6,000/-In case of miscarriage/still birth, the beneficiary would be treated as fresh beneficiary in event of any | future pregnancy.

Who can apply

The applicant should be of at least 19 years old and a pregnant women.; The applicant should be employed and experiencing wage-loss due to the pregnancy.; The scheme is applicable only for the first live birth.; Eligible beneficiary can apply for the benefit under PMMVY scheme within 270 days from the child birth.; If a beneficiary delivers twins/ triplets/ quadruplets in her second pregnancy, with one or more children being girl, she will receive incentive for second girl child as per the PMMVY 2.0 norms.; Women belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes; Women who are partially (40%) or fully disabled (Divyang Jan); Women holder of BPL Ration Card; Women Beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) under Ayushman Bharat.; Women holding e-Shram card; Women farmers who are beneficiaries under Kisan Samman Nidhi; Women holding MGNREGA Job Card; Women whose net family income is less than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum; Pregnant and Lactating AWWs/ AWHs/ ASHAs; Women holding Ration Card under NFSA Act 2013.; Any other category as may be prescribed by the Central Government

Common Questions

By When Can I Claim The Second Installment Of The Cash Incentive?

The 2nd installment can be claimed 180 days after the Last Menstrual Period (LMP) of the applicant.

Does this scheme provides any additional coverages?

Apart from the three installments to be claimed within 150 days, 180 days, and at childbirth, the scheme does not offer additional coverages.

Does the benefit under PMMVY continue in case of death?

No, in an unfortunate event that the child does not survive, the beneficiary is not eligible for benefits under PMMVY for further pregnancies as she has already claimed the installments.

Will the beneficiary get the benefit in case of miscarriage or stillbirth?

The beneficiary will receive the installments until the pregnancy is active. Since the benefit is paid out in three installments depending upon the pregnancy milestones, the beneficiary will receive at least two installments in case of stillbirth. The date of miscarriage will be a factor in deciding whether the benefit will continue or not.

I have received only the first installment under an old “Maternity Benefit Program (MBP) called Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY). Can I claim the remaining installments under the PMMVY?

Beneficiaries who have received only the first installment under the old MBP (IGMSY) scheme can claim only third installment under the PMMVY scheme, subject to meeting the criteria of PMMVY.

Yes, you are eligible to avail the benefits under this scheme.

I Am Already Availing A Paid Maternity Leave From My Employer. Am I Eligible For This Scheme?

No, if you are already availing any paid maternity scheme or a paid maternity leave from your employer, then in that case you won't be eligible for this scheme.

I meet all the eligibility conditions of the Scheme, however, I have applied to receive the benefits of the Scheme after the birth of the child. Am I still eligible to apply?

The beneficiary can apply for benefits under the PMMVY Scheme within 730 days from LMP date or 460 days from the date of Child Birth (in case of unavailability of LMP date) subject to fulfilment of all the other eligibility criteria under the Scheme.

Is Last Menstrual Period (LMP) Date Mandatory To Be Provided To Claim Benefits Under The Scheme?

Yes. The LMP Date, as found in the Mother Child Protection (MCP) Card is mandatory to claim the 1st and 2nd installment. If LMP Date is not provided, the beneficiary is not eligible to claim the 1st and 2nd installment and can claim only the 3rd installment provided she fulfils the conditionality for availing third installment of the Scheme.

Is There A Cut Off Date For Submission Of Applications?

Yes, the beneficiary can only apply for the scheme within 2 years from the date of beneficiary's Last Menstrual Period subject to the eligibility conditions of the scheme.
