Saksham is a Scholarship Scheme by the Ministry of Education, implemented by AICTE, aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue technical education. This is an attempt to give every young specially-abled student the opportunity to study further.

💰₹50,000/- per annum for every year of study i.e. maximum 3 years for the first year admitted students and maximum 2 years for the second year admitted students through lateral entry as lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment, software, etc. | - After selection, the awardee will be paid a scholarship through DBT mode on annual basis. | - The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study on receipt of renewal through National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate/ mark sheet along with a letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal

The scheme provides financial assistance, in the form of a Scholarship, proportionate to the fees paid by Scheduled Tribe students at the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) level in order to take offline coaching assistance through reputed institutions for preparation for NEET & JEE.

💰Financial Assistance | - Financial assistance for coaching fees for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) course, subject to a maximum limit of ₹3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakhs only). | - Financial assistance for coaching fees for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) course, subject to a maximum limit of ₹3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakhs only). | - 100% of coaching fees shall be reimbursed to students whose family income is up to ₹8,00,000/- (Rupees eight lakhs) per annum. | - 75% of coaching fees shall be reimbursed to students whose family income is above ₹8,00,000/- (Rupees eight lakhs) per annum, subject to the maximum limit. | - If the course fee exceeds the admissible amount, the student has to arrange for the remaining funds from his/her own sources. | Disbursement | - Duration: The benefit under the scheme shall be given for two years.- Mode of Payment: The course fee shall be released directly into the bank account of the students in two instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.- Frequency: Instalments are paid during the two-year course upon submission of fee receipts (First Installment in the XIth Standard and Second Installment in the XIIth Standard).- Advance Claim: If selected students have already paid registration, admission, or tuition fees in advance to the coaching institute for booking seats, they are eligible to claim such fees under the scheme, subject to the maximum benefit amount. | Conditions | - The applicant must submit the passing marksheet of the XIth standard; failing this, the scholarship will not be awarded for the XIIth standard. | - The student shall attend at least 90% of the classes. | - If the student remains absent for more than 15 days without any valid reason or leaves the coaching midway, the entire amount released to the student shall be recovered. | - If the student opts out in the 2nd year (i.e., in the XIIth standard), the student shall refund the full amount released under the scheme within 30 days. | - If any student furnishes any false information/documents and it is established as false, action shall be initiated for recovery of the amount released, with 15% compound interest thereon.

Central Sector Scheme of National Fellowship for Providing Fellowship to Scheduled Caste Students to Pursue M.Phil. & PhD

The scheme provides opportunities to Scheduled Castes students to pursue higher education leading to M.Phil/Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities and Social Science streams. The objective of the scheme is to provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance to SC students.

💰Number of Slots | - The scheme provides for 2000 new Fellowships (1500 Junior Research Fellows for Humanities/ Social Sciences and 500 Junior Research Fellows for Science stream) per year. | - These slots are over and above the number of SC students selected under the normal reservation policy of the Government for UGC Fellowships. | Validity | - The fellowship shall be paid from the date of issue of the JRF award letter under the Scheme for National Fellowship or the date of joining the M.Phil./Ph.D., whichever is later. | - The fellowship shall be granted upto the date of submission of the Ph.D. thesis or five years of tenure, whichever is earlier. No extension is permissible beyond the total period of five years of fellowship. | - Confirmation for continuation of the fellowship shall be given by the University twice a year on a semester basis within the 10th of the initial month of the semester. The scheme aims to provide handholding support in the form of remedial coaching to students studying in government academic institutions or institutions receiving grant-in-aid support from the Government, who belong to minority, OBC or SC communities of the State of Manipur.

💰The scheme provides free-of-cost remedial coaching to selected students. The coaching aims to help eligible students who are weak in studies to achieve higher grades/marks in English, Mathematics, and Science subjects. The duration of the coaching program for each class is 6 months. | Mode of Disbursement: Fund will be released to the Coaching Centres (CC) as cost for conducting coaching classes. | Frequency of Disbursement: The fund will be released in installments. | - The first installment, amounting to 40% of the cost, will be released in advance upon commencement of classes after signing a contract agreement with the Implementing Agency. | - The second installment, amounting to 40% of the cost, will be released upon utilisation of 90% of the first installment of funds and continuation of coaching of at least 90% of the initial number of beneficiary students enrolled after completion of two months of the course. | - The third installment, amounting to 10% of the cost, will be released upon completion of the course and after assessment of the quality of the coaching classes as satisfactory, based on measured feedback from the students, to be made by the Implementing Agency. | - The final installment of 10% of the cost will be released after at least 80% of the beneficiary students taking their final academic assessment examination in their respective schools have cleared the same.

Financial assistance is available for the following items: | Non-recurring items: A “one-time” grant up to Rs. 5.0 lakhs for each scheme during the XII Plan period for the following items: | - Books and Journals | - Audio-visual and teaching/ learning aid material | - Computers with Printer | - Photocopier | - Generator or Inverter | Recurring Items: Rs.7.00 lakhs for universities for each scheme per annum for expenditure on the following items: | - Honorarium to the Coordinator of the schemes @Rs. 2000/- per month | - Remuneration to teachers and scholars* | - Part-time staff with computer knowledge (on a contract basis) @ 6,000/- p.m. | - Part-time Peon/Attendant.@ Rs.1000/- p.m | - Contingency - Rs 50,000/- per annum | Remuneration at the rate of Rs. 300/- per hour per subject to the teachers and Rs.200 /- per hour to postgraduate students/ Research Scholars could be paid for theory classes and Rs.150/-per hour respectively for practicals. Generally, a faculty member should not teach for more than 2 hours a day. However, in exceptional cases where an eminent educationist is invited for a Special lecture, the remuneration @ Rs.500/- per hour and admissible T.A. could be paid with the approval of the Head of the Institution. The payment of remuneration to the participating teachers, PG students, and research scholars may be paid regularly every month without waiting for the pending grant from the UGC. | The final amount of grant to be allocated would depend upon the number of schemes, the number of students enrolled for the schemes in the proposal, and the decision of the Committee appointed for serving the applicants for these schemes.

The scheme helps visually impaired individuals by giving them computer and screen-reading training and providing a laptop to the beneficiaries.

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Economically Backward Class (EBC) students studying at the post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only.
