National Mission on Natural Farming

To motivate farmers to adopt chemical free farming and enhance the reach of natural farming, the Government has formulated National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) as a separate and independent scheme from 2023-24 by up scaling the Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Paddati (BPKP).

💰• Farmers practicing Natural Farming reported similar yields to those following conventional farming. In several cases, higher yields per harvest were also reported. | • As Natural Farming does not use any synthetic chemicals, health risks and hazards are eliminated. The food has higher nutrition density and therefore offers better health benefits. | • Natural Farming ensures better soil biology, improved agrobiodiversity and a more judicious usage of water with much smaller carbon and nitrogen footprints. | • Natural Farming aims to make farming viable and aspirational by increasing net incomes of farmers on account of cost reduction, reduced risks, similar yields, incomes from intercropping. | • By working with diverse crops that help each other and cover the soil to prevent unnecessary water loss through evaporation, Natural Farming optimizes the amount of ‘crop per drop’.

The Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP), is a flagship program of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The objective of the programme is to increase the productivity of livestock by improving the genetic potential through artificial insemination.

This will help to improve the fertility rate of cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep in the state. | - Improved quality of livestock: The programme will help to improve the quality of livestock through the use of improved semen from superior bulls. This will help to improve the production of milk and meat as well as the quality of the animals. | - Improved animal health: Artificial insemination will help to improve the health of animals by reducing the spread of diseases. Under the "Naye Fal Bagecho Ki Sthapana" subsidies to Increase farmers' income by facilitating the cultivation of high-value fruit crops that have a potentially higher market demand and profitability compared to traditional crops.

💰For high-value and common interval crops, the maximum grant amount is 50% of the unit cost, up to a maximum of Rs. 30,000/- per hectare. | - For intensive horticultural orchards, the maximum grant amount is 40% of the unit cost, up to a maximum of Rs. 40,000/- per hectare. | - A farmer will be given a grant for a minimum of 0.4 hectares and a maximum of 4.0 hectares area. | - Small/marginal farmers are eligible for an additional 25% grant.

“One Time Assistance to Small and Marginal Farmers for Purchase of Small Farm Implements (OTA-SFI)” by the Agriculture Department, Government of West Bengal aims to aid the farmers in procuring manually operated small farm implements necessary for agricultural operations.

💰Pattern Of Assistance: | - Maximum ₹10,000/- or 50% of total indicative price of purchased manually operated machinery/implement whichever is lower. | Available Equipment: | - A list of different manually operated machinery/implements is provided in Annexure-III (Page No. 37). Available models of different farm machinery /implements as mentioned in Annexure-III along with indicative price will be published in Matirkatha portal by the SPMT before starting of online application of the beneficiary .Combination of machinery/equipment from the list can be purchased within the subsidy limit. But, maximum two nos. implements of the same item may be chosen by the applicant. However, battery operated sprayers and PVC pipes for carrying water will also be eligible under this component. | Note:** | - No machine/equipment will be procured by the Government. The Government will only release subsidy as back ended subsidy against procurement by the beneficiaries as per their choice under FSSM with Bank Loan. The subsidy will be released through DBT mode to the beneficiaries for OTA-SFI. | - The subsidy will only be applicable for purchase of farm machinery/equipment from the approved Farm machinery Manufacturers and Dealers as enlisted in the Departmental portal. | - A beneficiary or his/her spouse will not be eligible to apply afresh before completion of 4(four) years from release of the last subsidy for any type of machinery under OTA-SFI from the State under this Guidelines.
